Recertification Requirements for AMLCA and CPAML Alumni

To maintain their certification, alumni must demonstrate an ongoing commitment to antimoney laundering compliance by fulfilling recertification requirements every two (2) years.

Requirements:

  • Earn 20 continuing education (CE) credits (1 credit per hour) within a two-year cycle.
  • Credits earned before the certification, or the most recent recertification are invalid.
  • Additional credits beyond the required 20 do not roll over to the next cycle.
  • CE programs do not require FIBA pre-approval but must relate to AML and paid events.
  • Credits can only be submitted during the recertification window (April 1 – June 30).
  • Submit credits individually via your FIBA profile.
  • Invoices for payment are issued only after credit approval.
  • If you have not recertified in over 10 years, you must complete a new AMLCA or CPAML certification.
  • Ensure credits are marked for AMLCA or CPAML; CVAA credits will not be accepted.

Recertification Process

Step 1: Earning CE Credits

Earn and report 20 CE credits by attending relevant conferences, courses, or professional activities every two years.

Step 2: Submitting CE Credits

Keep records of certificates and attendance. When ready, log into your FIBA profile and submit credits including: event name, description, provider, proof of attendance, date duration

Step 3: Payment

Once you meet the credit requirement, a $150 recertification fee invoice will be emailed to you. Pay the invoice through your FIBA profile. After payment is received, you can download your renewed certification from the FIBA portal.

Deadlines

  • Submit your documentation at least 90 days before your recertification due date.
  • Allow 4-6 weeks for review.
  • Check your submission status in your profile under the "Certifications/Programs" tab.

    • ACCESS TO PORTAL TO SUBMIT CREDITS April 1, 2025 – June 30, 2025

Detailed Information

STEP 1: EARNING CE CREDITS
To maintain active status, Alumni must earn and report a total of 20 continuing education (CE) credits every two years. Credits can be earned through training, education, and other professional development activities

STEP 2: LOGGING AND SUBMITTING CE CREDITS
As you earn credits during the two-year cycle, we recommend keeping a file of all documents and records associated with your certification, such as certificates of attendance and proofs of participation. Please refer to the Deadlines table below to submit your credit documentation a minimum of 90 days before your due date. Each submission requires:

● Name of the event
● Provider
● Proof of Attendance
● Brief description of event and content
● Date and duration

When you are ready to submit, you will need to log into your FIBA profile and complete a Credit Request submission (click here to see an example). Please allow four to six weeks from the time FIBA receives your submission for review and approval.

You may periodically check the status of your credit request by logging into your profile, going into “Account + Settings,” and then clicking on the “Certifications/Programs” tab in the “Professional Development” section. Please note that submissions received near the deadline (June 30) may take longer to review due to the higher volume of recertification applications received.

● Log into your FIBA profile
● Complete a Credit Request submission

STEP 3: PAYMENT
Alumni who successfully reach the 20 credit requirement are automatically issued an invoice for the recertification fee of $150 via email. You can view and pay your invoice at any time from within your FIBA profile by clicking on & My Events" under your Quick Links.

Once FIBA payment is received and your recertification is approved, you can download and print a PDF version of your renewed certification from the FIBA portal.

If you didn’t complete your recertification every 2 years, a surcharge of $100.00 USD will be applied, bringing the total to $250.00 USD.
